SSI Marine Ecology

The objectives of this course are to understand the following :  

  1. The ocean is made up of many different ecosystems that have a wide range of defining characteristics.
  2. Life in our ocean has evolved into an incredible diversity of organisms that inhabit different ecosystems.
  3. Physical components of our oceans, like the characteristics of water, temperature, salinity, and movement, interconnect with living systems.
  4. There are many natural and human impacts on our ocean.
  5. Humans can influence the health, management, and recovery of our ocean.

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: This course is for anyone interested in marine ecology. Non-divers are invited to take this course because no in-water dives are necessary for certification.
Materials Included: Online learning materials
Requirements: Online portion to be completed, followed by two Zoom sessions with an instructor.
